this is not true I have seen some of these kids videos and their mom does let them do skincare but really limited and what is wrong with a kid enjoying hygiene and taking care of themself?

A kid being so excited and in her ‘happy place’ in the skin care isle what does that say about your parenting?! And the kid doesn’t at all understand how ridiculous she sounds how sad this is our youth. Great way to teach them about junk they don’t need and how to waste money instead of starting a savings account for your kid

At least some brands are catering to tweens by creating gentler products for their skin. Ultimately though, this is not a new phenomenon. There have been strange trends that kids have been enjoying across every generation, and under capitalism, those trends tend to surround certain products and styles. And honestly, this is one of the safer trends that I have seen out there when you consider older forms of beauty trends such as corsets, makeup products containing toxic ingredients, eating tide pods, and even slap bracelets (sadly many were known for giving kids lacerations). Given that trends exist among kids in every generation, I think encouraging trends like this in healthier ways (products specifically designed for kids) is a lot better to some of the alternatives that we have seen. Of course, it is just as importance to teach kids the value of independence and authenticity by not attaching their identity to the products they own. But sometimes kids just want to be in on a new cool thing their friends are doing, and sometimes that is fine in moderation.

i understand teens and tweens using skincare for acne because i myself got acne at a very young age but using a ten step skincare routine as a person who rarely gets acne is not okay, it can damage your face, (especially retinol) my parents gave me Cetaphil at age 11 and i have been using that since.

I'm confused as to how these kids can even afford these products? Don't these cost a ton especially when bought at the same time? The parents should be doing something about it too and not just the skin care brands.

I think once you’re 13 you can start a real skincare routine. at their age they should use sunscreen, maybe just gentle products if they have to. Once you’re a teen depending on your skin you might need different things, as long as it’s not full of acids and retinol

I think tweens should NOT GET SKINCARE unless they need it like for acne then I would say cleanser and basics like pimple patches too

I say if ur kid suffers with acne like at example 11 or younger and they never tried skincare then obviously they will need some sort of skincare too prevent the acne, but half of these kids have such clear skin they definitely don’t need the skincare,

Guys. I’m 11 (yes Ik yt is like 12 or 13 plus but I’m almost twelve) and my whole class (the girls) literally goes to Sephora every week and gets “skincare”. The thing is, no matter how many times they use it, they still break out while I just have water, 1 bubble (they gave it to me), and sunscreen and I have almost no break out face.

Lack of parenting and control over what they are watching. My little sister is 9 and her interests are what a normal 9 year old like (drawing and painting, playing Mario games, playing outside, etc.). She is not asking for skin care products
